Ray Martinez is dedicated to the Fort Collins, Colorado, community in which he grew up and has over thirty-six years of experience in public service. He began his career in the Fort Collins Police Department in 1974 and retired in 1996.
Mr. Martinez was the lead investigator in an international terrorist investigation that became the subject of two published books: Death Merchant by Joseph Goulden and Manhunt by Peter Maas. He has also authored and published thirteen of his own books.
Ray is a past host of two weekly radio talk show with KFKA Radio in Greeley, Colorado, and the iHeart radio morning show. He still presides on several local boards such as Healing Warriors and Elevations Credit Union.
Mayor Martinez was elected for three terms—1999, 2001, and 2003—before he left office in April 2005 because of term limitations. He later was elected to the Fort Collins City Council from 2015 to 2019. Ray Martinez is a proud veteran of the US Army from 1971 to 1973.
